Nestled just 2km from the heart of Scone in the picturesque Hunter Valley, NSW, Cannon Hayes Stud offers a premier location to foster, develop, and grow your thoroughbreds. Our 98-acre property combines fertile irrigation land, a wealth of equine expertise, and state-of-the-art facilities to provide unmatched care for resident thoroughbreds. Conveniently located near first-class equine and veterinary services and just a 5-minute drive from a regional centre, we are perfectly positioned to serve clients from across Australia with ease and reliability.


ABOUT US
Our property is thoughtfully designed to create the ideal environment for horses. We grow a blend of natural and improved pastures, rotated and rejuvenated regularly to ensure optimal nutrition. This is complemented by tailored, hand-fed supplementary diets to meet the individual needs of each horse, supporting reproduction, growth, and peak performance.
With generous paddocks featuring safe and secure fencing, shade trees, shelter sheds, and a reliable concrete trough water system, Cannon Hayes Stud prioritises the health, safety, and comfort of all resident thoroughbreds.

Dave Morrissey

With over 30 years of industry experience, Dave Morrissey brings a lifetime of knowledge and passion to Cannon Hayes Stud. Originally from County Tipperary, Ireland, Dave began his equine career at the Irish National Stud and later earned a scholarship to Australia. He spent 18 years working with some of the Hunter Valley’s leading thoroughbred breeding farms, gaining invaluable experience alongside industry leaders like John Messara and Sam Fairgray.
In 2019, Dave established Cannon Hayes Stud, naming it after his family’s estate in Tipperary. His commitment to excellence and dedication to supporting owners’ endeavours have made Cannon Hayes a trusted name in the industry.

Dr. Lucy Cudmore

As an Equine Medicine Specialist with over 10 years of experience in the thoroughbred industry, Dr Lucy Cudmore is an integral part of Cannon Hayes Stud. Lucy’s background includes an internship at the Goulburn Valley Equine Hospital and a residency and Masters at the University of Melbourne Equine Centre. She currently works full-time at Scone Equine Group's Clovelly Intensive Care facility, bringing her expertise directly to the farm.
Lucy’s knowledge and dedication to equine health perfectly complement Dave’s passion, ensuring the highest level of care for every horse at Cannon Hayes.

Sally Armstong

Sally Armstrong plays an essential role in ensuring the smooth running of Cannon Hayes Stud. With a Bachelor of Animal Science, she has spent time working across varying roles within both the Livestock and Thoroughbred Industries before farming and family life brought her to a more dynamic administrative role.
Her organisational skills and industry knowledge make her an invaluable part of the team.
